No Stranger to the White House
Psaki has a lengthy history with politics. She worked on the reelection campaigns of Iowa Senator Tom Harkin and Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack. Later, she became part of the team behind John Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign.
She went on to become one of Barack Obama’s closest advisors during the 2007-2008 presidential elections. In 2009, she joined his administration as the press secretary. In 2010, she was promoted to deputy director of communications.
When she left the White House in 2011 and became a senior vice president at the Global Strategy Group, The New York Times described her as calm and amiable. They also noted that she was one of the most popular figures within the Obama administration.
In 2014, she briefly served as the spokesperson for Secretary of State John Kerry, and almost a year later, she returned to the Obama administration as the communications director.
