Sometimes, to be able to talk about presidents who are related to celebrities, you have to dig deep into historical documents, and that’s what we did, and we discovered some juicy information.

You have surely seen this fantastic actor in several military or patriotic movies, such as “Saving Private Ryan”, “Apollo 13”, or “News of the World”. But what is not that popular among the audience is that the fantastic actor is related to the 16th president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln.

The celeb knows about this piece of history that he has run into in the family, and he shared more about it during an interview. He said that the former president’s mother was Nancy Hanks, and the members of his branch of the family were in-laws, cousins, or poor relations.

Experts looked into this and concluded that Tom Hanks is therefore the third cousin of Abraham Lincoln, four times removed. What’s funny about this story is that when Mr. Hanks was a school student, the president he was always doing essays on was actually the cousin he’d never met.
