PATRICK WOJAHN
Patrick Wojahn was elected mayor of College Park, Maryland, in 2015. He served as mayor until he handed in his 2023 resignation letter, which stated that he “was stepping away to deal with his mental health”. The next day, he was instantly arrested on charges of possessing and distributing child se*ual abuse imagery.
Earlier this year, an investigation was opened when law enforcement received different images found on Wojahn’s social media account on Kik (a social media app). Soon enough, his electronics were seized, and over 1,500 videos were found.
He was instantly charged with 140 counts of crimes related to the possession and distribution of such images. He pleaded guilty, and he took a deal that included a 30-year prison sentence. After his release, he will have to register for 25 years as a s*x offender. Moreover, Wojahn admitted he viewed and possessed files that included child pornography, owning probably one of the largest amounts of files seen in Prince George County’s cases so far.
