If there’s one thing our current president can do, it’s crack a joke. Whether we laugh or not, this is our business, considering that behind the presidential desk, the laugh is laughing. That’s probably one of the reasons why, on Friday, U.S. President Joe Biden joked that he wished former President Donald Trump had injected himself with a little more bleach, referencing one of Trump’s more head-scratching moments from the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.

At a recent fundraising event focused on his re-election campaign, which took place south of San Francisco, Biden reiterated how the presidency of his Republican opponent was totally chaotic and how voters should never forget that.

So far, we can fairly say that Biden and Trump are locked in one of the closest contests leading up to the November election. “Remember when he said that the best thing to do is inject a little bleach in your arm? That’s what he said.

And he meant it. I wish he had done a little bit himself,” he joked. During the early months of the pandemic, back in 2020, Trump said that an “injection inside” the human body with a disinfectant such as bleach or isopropyl alcohol might help protect against the virus.

Biden also brought up Trump’s “love letters” (as he likes to say) from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, even if Biden mistakenly referred to Kim as the president of South Korea. Back in the day, Trump met with Kim and exchanged a number of letters.

He also made sure to keep copies sealed in a loose-leaf binder in the Oval Office. A spokesperson for the Trump campaign didn’t respond right away to a request for comment on Biden’s remarks. Biden mentioned Trump’s bleach comment before, stating on April 24 in Washington that Trump injected himself and “it all went to his hair.”
