5 Lies Trump Said About Kamala Harris

Did you know about these lies Trump said about Kamala Harris?

The 2024 election surprised all of us, and as you expect, everybody is excited about the speeches the candidates will give. We are all about the facts, and this is why we want to present you with some lies Trump said about Kamala Harris during a campaign rally at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina, on July 24, 2024.

The former president and actual 2024 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump took the stage with his characteristic bravado and didn’t shy away from addressing a fervent crowd of supporters. Unfortunately, his speech was full of inaccuracies, and most of them were about Vice President Kamala Harris.

Read on and find out more about these misleading statements. It’s time to separate truth from fiction, and this fact check is here to show you the lies Trump said about Kamala Harris. The integrity of public discourse is essential, and being aware of such claims is the first step you can take.

1. Harris and red meat

One of the lies Trump said about Kamala Harris during his speech is that she wants to pass laws to outlaw red meat in an effort to stop climate change.

But Harris never suggested passing laws to ban red meat. So, how did this become a thing? This confusion might stem from the comments she made in 2019 during a CNN climate change town hall. During this event, Harris participated in the Democratic presidential primary, and she talked about how changing dietary guidelines is essential for a healthy nation.

Here she encouraged Americans to reduce their red meat consumption but never discussed banning it or other similar initiatives. She even admitted, “I love cheeseburgers from time to time.” This celery shows us that she is not for banning red meat.

What sparked claims that Harris supports the banning of red meat is that during her speech about the impact of sodas and sugary foods, she said “banning certain behaviors.” But this was taken out of context.

Because of the lies Trump said about Kamala Harris, he was asked about the sources his campaign used, and they are one YouTube video and one article, both of them being questionable. If you look at them, both sources show us Harris’s support for incentives, not bans.

2. Harris and the retirement age

In the same rally, Donald Trump made a claim about President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris regarding Social Security. He said, “They’re talking about—he was talking, she’s talking about—lifting the retirement age.” What do we understand from it if we don’t look any further? The Biden-Harris administration is considering raising the age at which Americans can retire with full Social Security benefits. But is this true, or is this another one of the lies Trump said about Kamala Harris?

Harris never spoke about raising the age for receiving Social Security retirement benefits. On the other hand, yes, Biden talked about that when he was a US senator in the 2000s, but while he was president, he has been vocal about how he is opposing this idea.

What we know is that Harris is for the protection and expansion of Social Security benefits. As a senator, she co-sponsored the Social Security Expansion Act.

3. Harris and immigration

The border czar who never went to the border? There are many lies Trump said about Kamala Harris, and this might be one of them. Because we want to get the facts straight, we need to tell you that this is an inaccurate statement. Why?

As the first president, Harris did in fact visit the border. This happened in Texas in mid-2021. Yes, many Republicans had criticized her for not visiting sooner, but to say that she never visited the border is a false claim.

Also, she was never officially made the “border czar.” And even the White House stated that this is an incorrect label. In fact, President Joe Biden assigned Kamala Harris a more specific role regarding immigration, which was to lead diplomatic efforts with El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.

The purpose of this project was to investigate the underlying causes of migration from these nations to the United States. This position was responsible for international diplomacy rather than actually overseeing the United States-Mexico border.

4. Harris and abortion

During the same rally, among other lies Trump said about Kamala Harris, he also stated that Harris is for abortions in the eighth and ninth months of pregnancy. However, this assertion is not based on facts and misrepresents Harris’s views on abortion.

So, Trump’s claims are completely false, and Harris has never advocated for such actions. Also, the former president claimed that the execution of babies is on Harris’s agenda. Again, this is not true, and even more, it’s completely illegal across all US.

Now, it’s true that Kamala Harris is a vocal supporter of abortion rights, but she never discussed specific limits on how late in a pregnancy an abortion should be permitted. This is a stance that is often used and misrepresented to suggest that she supports unrestricted late-term abortions, but this is not accurate.

Harris has called for bringing back the Roe v. Wade protections, which the Supreme Court removed in 2022. Roe v. Wade permitted states to limit abortions after fetal viability, which is often approximately 23 to 24 weeks, with exceptions for circumstances involving the mother’s life or health.

It’s easy to see that all of the claims of the former president are just lies Trump said about Kamala Harris, and even if she supports abortion, what Trump has said during this rally is just a misrepresentation of her views and policies.

5. The Jewish community

Among all the critiques, Trump also stated that since Kamala Harris didn’t attend Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to Congress, this means she is in opposition to Israel and the Jewish people.

So, why is this one of the many lies Trump said about Kamala Harris? First of all, on that day while the speech was happening, Harris was in Indianapolis to deliver a previously scheduled address to a historically Black sorority. All of this was planned in advance, and it was an important engagement for her.

Other than that, Harris had a meeting scheduled with Netanyahu the following day, which means that even though she missed his speech, she was still there for diplomatic discussions with the Israeli Prime Minister.

Harris has always supported Israel and the Jewish community. As a senator, she pushed for Israeli aid and the right to self-defense. Her diplomatic meeting with Netanyahu the day following his speech demonstrates her continued willingness to engage with Israeli authorities.

One thing to remember is how important it is to know the facts, especially in the heated atmosphere of political campaigning. The misinformation presented by Trump about Kamala Harris during his rally at the Bojangles Coliseum can easily mislead the public and affect the perceptions of key issues.
